Hotels
When reception is staffed by one person, reservation calls are put on hold. A guest kept waiting usually turns to another property.
What it does on the phone
- Reserves rooms — which dates, how many people; it checks capacity and finds a room that fits
- Reports availability — whether there is space on those dates
- Quotes prices — by room type
- Answers guest questions — breakfast times, parking, pets, check-in time
- Records special requests — and passes them to reception
What you see in the panel
- Reservations
- In a hotel the records are called Reservations
- Resources
- Your rooms are defined with their capacities; occupancy is live
- Guests
- Whether they have stayed before and what they preferred
- Cash
- Deposits, balances, payments
